Honda has just pulled the wraps of the 2018 HR-V crossover, which is likely to make its way to India in the days to come. The updated 2018 HR-V which has been revealed for the Japanese market, gets a revised take on design and comes as standard with what Honda is calling Active Safety Features.
The front fascia of the HR-V includes changes to the fascia, that gets prominent changes in the form of a chrome slit which extends along the width of the front to echo the look of recent releases like the Civic, and the CR-V. Revised LED headlamps as wheel as new design alloy wheels. Headlining the upgrades, however, is the standard inclusion of the Honda active safety suite across the range – in Japan, at least. The suit features the inclusion of autonomous-emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist.
Honda has made some changes to the interior of the HR-V as well, this includes reshaped seats and revised trims which now bring more premiumness to the HR-V brand. The HR-V which is known as the Vezel in some markets, also benefits from new-fog lamp strips on higher segments including a slightly revised rear bumper. Another interesting addition to the 2018 HR-V is the Jazz-Brown two-tone interior colour scheme, while noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels are claimed to be improved thanks to more insulating materials.
Powertrains have not been changed for the 2018 HR-V which means that it is likely to get a naturally aspirated 1.5 litre petrol mated to a CVT gearbox. In Japan, the HR-V will also gets a petrol-electric hybrid teamed, although speculations that it will reach the indian subcontinent are still on.
We expect Honda to launch the HR-V early 2019, once launched it will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur or maybe even the new Duster, if they launch one by then.
